Meeting of the Presidential National Commission for Women and Family and Demographic Policy chaired by Kazakhstan’s State Secretary

Opening the meeting, the Secretary of State noted that this year Kazakhstan has launched implementation of the Third Modernization.

G.Abdykalikova focused attention on the fact that the tasks set by the Head of State on the modernization of three basic spheres - economy, politics and public consciousness - are being actualized across in the country.

The Secretary of State stressed the importance of realizing the anticipatory process of spiritual modernization. In her opinion, a family and women, who bring up the younger generation, play a decisive role in creating people's spiritual values, competitiveness, pragmatism, preserving the national identity and the cult of knowledge.

In this regard, G. Abdykalikova urged the country’s women's community to accumulate efforts to promote all 6 directions of “Ruhani Zhangyru” National Project.

Then the meeting heard information from the Foreign Affairs Ministry on the activities to achieve the UN's sustainable development goals until 2030 in Kazakhstan.

The meeting also considered the issue of improving civil service and ensuring equal opportunities in career advancement. According to the Agency for Civil Service and Anti-Corruption Affairs, as of January 1, 2017, the share of women among civil servants in the country was 55.5% (51151 out of 92,203), which is 0.5% higher than last year (50219 out of 91330).

According to the Agency in 2016, 43,476 candidates took part in the contests for Corps "B" administrative posts, including 20,862 women (48%). The proportion of women appointed by the end of the competitions was 48.5% (10032 out of 20690). At the same time, out of 6134 applicants for the Corps “B” management positions 42.9% (2633) were women, and the share of women appointed to managerial positions was 34.8% (1524 out of 4357).

In addition, during the meeting there was a [presentation of the experience of "Family Centre" Foundation in the city of Semey, which supports people in difficult life situations.

Following the meeting, the State Secretary has given several specific instructions to state bodies.

 

NOTE:

On September 25, 2015, at the United Nations summit, all UN member states adopted the Agenda for Global Development "Transforming Our World: Transforming Our World: The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development" (hereinafter SDG). SDGs consist of 17 objectives, 169 tasks and 230 indicators, which should be achieved by 2030.
