President Nursultan Nazarbayev holds meeting on implementation of the five institutional reforms

January 2, 2016

Prime Minister Karim Massimov, Head of the Presidential Executive Office Nurlan Nigmatulin, as well as Deputy Head of the Presidential Executive Office Baglan Mailybayev took part in the meeting.

Nursultan Nazarbayev noted last year the country saw positive economic growth despite the existing difficulties in the world economic markets.

We have come to the most challenging stage of launching the implementation of the five institutional reforms. We did a lot of preparatory work, adopted all the appropriate documents. Now it is essential that the Presidential Executive Office, the Government, along with ministries and local executive bodies would actively fulfill the tasks. The National Modernisation Commission will continue its activities, reporting to me and ensuring the prevention of any deficiencies in the work,” he said.

The President stressed the importance of timely and effective implementation of the reforms.

The improvement of public service system should be carried out both in the central and local executive bodies. The judicial system itself should be initiating changes as part of ensuring the rule of law in Kazakhstan. In addition, we are planning to adopt the Patriot Act, which will identify key areas of further work to strengthen the unity of the people, tolerance and trust. In order to be fully accountable at all levels the government should provide regular reports to the public. In general, heads of executive authorities are responsible for the major results of work,” he added.

Following the meeting, Nursultan Nazarbayev charged the meeting participants with a number of specific tasks.
