Visit to the polling station No.81

April 26, 2015

Nursultan Nazarbayev cast his vote for the presidential election at a polling station in the Palace of Schoolchildren in Astana.

The President noted that about 9.5 million citizens of Kazakhstan entitled to vote are participating in the voting process across the country at more than 9,700 polling stations.

“On the one hand, today citizens have the right to exercise their constitutional powers. On the other hand, they have the opportunity to choose their own future and assess the activities of the government. I am sure that the people of Kazakhstan will vote primarily for the stable development of our country, improved living standards, as well as their own future and future of their children, supporting the policy which the country has so far been following under my leadership,” he said.

The Head of State drew attention to the transparency of the electoral process.

“Nearly 850 international observers, representing almost 40 countries and international organisations, are monitoring the electoral and voting procedures. About 170 representatives of foreign media have been accredited to cover the election. We are demonstrating to the world our openness and compliance with the law. I believe the observers will give a fair assessment of the election. I would like to thank everyone in advance for their participation and interest in the election,” he said.

Nursultan Nazarbayev stressed in case the people of Kazakhstan entrust him to serve as the president in this election, one of his first actions will be to create a commission to implement the five institutional reforms.

“The commission will consist of five subgroups, which will immediately start working as it is a huge and complicated task that requires amendments to the legislation. In general, these reforms are the next stage of development of our country, covering the economy, politics, society and creating conditions for transparency and openness,” he said.

The President also noted that all candidates were provided with equal conditions under which they could acquaint people with their programmes.

“I believe the initiatives of the other two candidates related to the preservation of traditions and identity of our people and environmental issues are correct. Their suggestions may also be included in the agenda and we will work together to implement them. I personally voted for Kazakhstan’s future, for continuing the work we started so that its results will be seen by this and future generations,” he said.
