Participation in the 22nd session of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan

The session with its agenda defined as “Mangilik Yel: One Country – One Destiny” was held at the Palace of Peace and Accord under the chairmanship of President of Kazakhstan, Chairman of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev.

More than 1,500 people attended the gathering, among them APK members and veterans from all regions, chairmen of national and regional ethnic and cultural associations, deputies of Parliament, heads of central executive bodies, political parties, religious organisations, NGOs, representatives of the diplomatic corps and representatives of science, art and the media.

In his speech, Nursultan Nazarbayev congratulated participants of the session with the 20th anniversary of the Assembly, having noted the organisation was established when the country was experiencing difficult times.

“We took the fate of the republic into our own hands and built the state respected worldwide. We did it in the name of our present happiness and well-being, as well as of future generations,” he said.

The President also said throughout the 20th century a complicated process of multiethnic society formation was underway, as a result of which 5.6 million people were relocated to the country.

The Head of State noted all the initiatives, including Kazakhstan-2050 Strategy, the Nurly zhol programme, the five institutional reforms and Mangilik Yel concept are designed for many years ahead and only a powerful national mechanism can make it happen.

“This can be a single nation of the future. We form a unique and still never repeated model of people’s unity. We are united, first of all, by a common love for our common home – Kazakhstan. Second is a social consensus in relation to the history of our ancient land and development of languages. Third is deep faith in the present and the future of our great state and its citizens. This is the basis of our eternal motherland, Mangilik Yel,” he said.

In this regard, Nursultan Nazarbayev emphasized that the central task of the Assembly is to get involved in the implementation of the five institutional reforms and, above all, in the formation of a single nation of the future.

Among the speakers addressing those gathered were veterans of the Assembly, foreign guests, delegates from the regions, athletes, workers, representatives of youth organisations, and participants of the first Kazakhstan’s ski expedition to the North Pole. They stressed the importance of maintaining stability and social harmony, which is the basis for sustainable development of the country.

During the session, the President appointed new APK deputies Lyubov Ni and Oleg Dymov, representing ethnic and cultural associations of the country.

The Head of State also awarded jubilee medals to the Assembly’s members who were behind its creation and activists of ethnic and cultural associations.

A statement was adopted at the end of the session which noted that at the initiative of the President, the Year of the Assembly is marked by the inviolability of the politics of peace, harmony, stability and unity of people in achieving the well-being and prosperity of the country. The APK session expressed full support of the nationwide concept Mangilik Yel, which serves as the basis of civil values and spiritual imperative of society.
