Visit to the new mosque in Astana

May 2, 2018

On the eve of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, the Head of State visited a new mosque located in Saryarka micro-district of Astana.

The President of Kazakhstan was presented the details on the construction of the mosque and alternative sources of energy used to provide this building with electricity and heat.

For reference:

The construction of the mosque on the right bank of the Ishim River started in 2016. The new mosque was built at the expense of charitable means. The building is made in the style of postmodernism, using traditional ornaments and decorative elements. The main building has a complex, hemispherical shape, consisting of triangular inclined planes, culminating in a dome, with a diameter of 26 meters. Externally, the mosque’s design resembles a flower and a diamond at the same time.

The height of the minaret, located on the north side of the main building of the mosque, is 43.5 meters and it is in the form of kalam - sacred feather.

The alternative sources used for the energy supply produce three times more electricity from the required volume. The new mosque is for 750 visitors.

The area is 2248 sq. m. The site area is 1.44 ha.
