Participation in the Forum dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan

In his speech, Nursultan Nazarbayev noted that Zhambyl region has become the cradle of friendship and peaceful coexistence of more than 80 ethnicities.

“The city of Taraz, with a history of more than two thousand years, is the ancient center of our country. The attractions of the region and the city are included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. This autumn we will be celebrating the 550th anniversary of the Kazakh statehood on this sacred land. This is an important event that proclaims our unity and prosperity,” he said.

The President also drew the audience’s attention to the dynamics of social and economic development of the region.

“The “Nurly zhol” new economic policy is being successfully implemented, 33 new facilities worth 116 billion tenge have been put into operation under the new industrialisation programme. The next thing on the agenda is the introduction of 23 new enterprises worth about 600 billion tenge, which involves the establishment of chemical cluster based on “Himpark Taraz” special economic zone, the production of caustic soda and chlorine, as well as modernisation of Akbakay gold mining plant. Altogether, these facilities will employ more than 11,000 people,” he said.

In addition, Nursultan Nazarbayev highlighted the development of tourism in Zhambyl region.

“Three large tourist facilities are under construction at the moment, which are ski resort “Koksai”, “Tau samaly” complex and “Yurt Hotel"”, he said.

The President emphasized that through the joint efforts of all people in Kazakhstan, peace and harmony laid the foundation for the country’s development in the XXI century.

“This year we have launched five major national reforms aimed at further development of Kazakhstan. We are forming modern civil service, fair judicial system, new industry, the nation with a united future and accountable government. All of this is done for our citizens, for working people,” he noted.

In conclusion, Nursultan Nazarbayev thanked the Forum participants for their continued support and wished everyone peace and prosperity.

Among the speakers addressing the Forum were representatives of ethnic and cultural associations.
