Participation in the Forum “My Homeland, My Golden Cradle”

April 20, 2015

The Forum, held within the President’s working trip to Almaty region, gathered more than 5,000 residents of Karasai district.

Addressing the attendees, Nursultan Nazarbayev noted that today the whole world is open to the citizens of Kazakhstan, but the country is a place that makes people want to come back.

“Due to the efforts of Kazakhstani people, in a relatively short span of time by historical standards our country has achieved incredible success, having strengthened its independence, and becoming a well-known and reputable country. Today our unity has become a model for other countries. For me, personally, the “golden cradle” is the whole Kazakhstan and it should be like this for all of us. A person never forgets the place where he spent his childhood. Ushkonyr is such a place for me. It’s hard to find such a fresh and clean air like in Zhetysu. The unique nature and our favourite mountains remain beautiful for years,” he said.

The President said that many prominent figures in science, art and other fields of knowledge came from the village.

“The village is a pillar of spirituality, the foundation of culture and the source of traditions of our people. The land of Karasai district has long been famous for its multi-ethnic culture, where representatives of various nations have lived. They kept the spirit of unity, peace and harmony, which was handed over to us by our fathers,” he maintained.

The Head of State stressed that the results of consistent policy aimed at the development of the regions can be seen across the country.

“I always keep an eye on the region and I am glad with all my heart to witness how it is thriving. Last year, nearly 20,000 jobs were created in Almaty region. In line with the programme of industrialisation 48 projects worth 283 billion tenge have been implemented. Over the past two years, one billion tenge has been allocated for the reconstruction of roads. More than 50,000 people will participate in the construction of Almaty sections of highways “Center – South” and “Western Europe - Western China”. Last year, 27 educational facilities were built in the region,” he said.

Nursultan Nazarbayev underscored the improvement in social standing of Almaty region.

“Last year, 720,000 square meters of housing were constructed. Nearly half of them were built in Karasai district. Nearly three thousand families moved in the residential complex “Assyl Arman” in Kaskelen,” he said.

The President noted that Almaty and Kaskelen, which once seemed to be far away from each other, today have merged.

“The proximity of a large city of Almaty has a positive influence on the development of the district. In Karasai district, a third of the region’s output is produced. There are 20 large enterprises here. Last year, 3 outpatient clinics, 4 schools and 1 kindergarten were put into operation,” he said.

The Head of State stressed the government’s efforts to create favourable conditions for young people.

“In Almaty region alone, 4,000 young specialists have come to work in line with the state programme “With Diploma to Village”. In accordance with “Employment 2020” programme young people are getting a job across the country,” he said.

Nursultan Nazarbayev underscored that the attention to the development of rural areas implies attention to the future of the country that relies upon the achievements of the past.

“In addition to the historical dates we are celebrating this year at the government level, the 200th anniversary of a poet Suyunbay is approaching. Next year the 170th anniversary of Zhambyl will take place. These are two great individuals who were born in this region. We should celebrate their anniversaries to demonstrate a good example to the younger generation on the basis of their life,” he said.

The President drew the attention of attendees to the state efforts to support creative labour and ensure well-being of the people.

“We have established a special decoration “The Man of Labour”. We can all be proud of our work and the level Kazakhstan has been able to achieve over the years. Today we have new peaks to conquer. Therefore I put forward the "Nurly zhol" programme along with five institutional reforms. Due to these programmes, we will achieve a better future. Our intention to join the 30 most developed countries of the world is a worthy goal,” he said.

In conclusion, the Head of State wished everyone good health, success and prosperity.

Residents of Almaty region addressed the Forum as well, thanking Nursultan Nazarbayev for the government’s attention to the issues of rural development.

The Forum continued with a concert.
