The sides discussed the current state and trends of bilateral relations and were encouraged by the progress of the agreements implementation, which were achieved during the official visit of Prime Minister of Pakistan to Kazakhstan in August 2015.
The Kazakh President and Prime Minister of Pakistan exchanged congratulations on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and Pakistan.
Nawaz Sharif invited Nursultan Nazarbayev to take the part in the Economic Cooperation Organization Summit to be held in March the current year in Islamabad.
Given Kazakhstan’s presidency in the Committee for Afghanistan as part of the country's non-permanent membership in the UN Security Council, the two sides also exchanged views on the situation in the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. The common position was voiced, involving making peace and stability and internal harmony in the country.
In addition, they deliberated upon the matters of cooperation in the framework of multilateral institutions, the UN and the SCO in particular.
