In the course of the meeting, cooperation growth prospects between Kazakhstan and WHO were in question. Gulshara Abdykalikova congratulated Zsuzsanna Jakab with the appointment of Tedros Adhanom as the new WHO Director-General.
The Secretary of State noted with satisfaction all WHO initiatives aimed at strengthening public health systems and services.
Gulshara Abdykalikova has stressed that our country takes an active part in implementing joint projects with WHO in addressing urgent health issues, including the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
The Secretary noted WHO's support in implementing the state program for health development in Kazakhstan, in particular, on the issues of maternal and child health, prevention and control of tuberculosis, medical and pharmaceutical education and etc.
In the course of the meeting, the questions of the activities of the WHO geographically remote office for Primary Health Care in Almaty were discussed.
Gulshara Abdykalikova spoke about the initiative of Kazakhstan to establish the UN Hub in multilateral diplomacy in Almaty as well.
In turn, Zsuzsanna Jakab expressed her gratitude to Kazakhstan on the ongoing policy in the field of health.
