During the meeting, the progress in implementing and observation of laws were dealt with during actualizing "Information Kazakhstan 2020" State Program, as well as the measures taken to counter corruption in the health care system.
Opening the meeting, Gulshara Abdykalikova stressed that at the opening of the Parliament’s 3rd session Nursultan Nazarbayev outlined health issues as one of the priority directions of the country's development, which are of great social importance.
The meeting heard the reports of the Information and Communications Minister Dauren Abayev and Prosecutor General Zhakip Asanov.
According to these speakers, the main target indicators for the implementation of the program show positive dynamics. 40 target indicators (48%) were achieved ahead of schedule. For example, in 2017 the level of computer literacy of citizens exceeded 76%, while 65% was planned; the number of subscribers of the national satellite network exceeded 1.2 million with a plan of 500 thousand.
The Health Minister Elzhan Birtanov and the head of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau Talgat Tatubayev spoke regarding the second agenda item. The Health Minister reported on the measures taken to prevent corruption in the healthcare sector.
During the meeting, it was announced that in the last 2 years the number of registered corruption crimes in this area has increased by 2 times. Significant risks have been identified in the procurement of medications and medical services within the guaranteed volume of free medical care, when it comes to cooperation with drug companies, the system of medical formulary, certification procedures, etc.
Following the meeting, the Commission has given instructions to eliminate corruption risks in the health sector.
