The meeting devoted to the preparation for the celebration of the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War was attended by Chairman of the Central Council of the “Organisation of Veterans” Omirzak Ozganbayev, First Deputy Minister of Defence - Chief of the Armed Forces General Staff Saken Zhassuzakov and Vice Minister of Health and Social Development Daulet Argandykov.
Gulshara Abdykalikova noted 1.8 million Kazakhstanis took part in the war. “Hundreds of our compatriots were awarded with medals and decorations, nearly 500 people were awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union and 110 Kazakhstanis were awarded with three classes of the Order of Glory. 630,000 people were killed, died of wounds or diseases and went missing,” she said.
The Secretary of State noted that 4,776 veterans of war and 192,980 home front workers live in Kazakhstan as of March 1, 2015. She reminded of the words of President Nursultan Nazarbayev who said that the veterans of Kazakhstan had demonstrated their heroism, unity and solidarity and today is the moment of truth for many generations.
The meeting participants informed Gulshara Abdykalikova of the preparation to the anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
Chairman of the Central Council of the “Organisation of Veterans” Omirzak Ozganbayev informed the attendees of the meeting of the activities for the coming period.
Representatives of the government agencies, in turn, reported on the progress made in providing social, material and medical assistance to war veterans and home front workers.
In conclusion, Gulshara Abdykalikova noted that the celebration of the 70th anniversary of Victory is a tribute to the memory of heroic deeds of our fathers and grandfathers in the bloodiest war in the world history that will give a powerful impetus to the development of Kazakhstan’s patriotism.
Following the results of the meeting the Secretary of State charged government agencies with specific tasks related to the preparation for the celebration of the 70th anniversary of Victory Day.
