During the meeting the sides discussed the issues of national security protection.
Nursultan Nazarbayev noted that the Foreign Intelligence Service is set to get to a new stage in its development. He stressed that given the present geopolitical situation and a growing threat of international terrorism Kazakhstan should strengthen its efforts to better protect the country’s interests abroad.
Gabit Baizhanov reported on the implementation of the tasks given to the Foreign Intelligence Service, including improvements in the selection and recruitment of new staff.
At the end of the meeting, the President gave a number of specific tasks.
