During the meeting, the Head of the State listened to the report on the Justice Ministry’s activities in 2016 and got acquainted with the plans for the forthcoming period.
Nursultan Nazarbayev was provided with information on fulfilling the law drafting activities plan, within which 18 draft laws were submitted to the Parliament. According to Marat Beketaev, starting from the second quarter of this year, 28 draft laws are expected to be brought in.
The President of Kazakhstan positively noted the results of the state institution’s work.
At the same time, the Head of State outlined a number of important tasks facing the Ministry of Justice, among which are active participation in forming the national legislation, legal expertise and analysis of legislative and other normative legal acts, legal support of the country's activities in the international arena and protection of intellectual property rights.
The Minister of Justice has also reported to Nursultan Nazarbayev on the legislative and coordination work, the activities of the Inter-Institutional Commission on law-making in the open format. In particular, that provides for the possibility of journalists’ online monitoring the process of the IIC's work, as well as organizing briefings for the media following the results of meetings.
The President of Kazakhstan gave a number of specific instructions at the end of the meeting.
