During the meeting Umirzak Shukeyev informed Nursultan Nazarbayev on the progress made in the transformation programme and privatization of the company’s assets. He also told about the measures taken to improve the company’s corporate management system.
In 2015, the company’s costs were reduced by 520 billion tenge with a number of non-priority investment projects being postponed until a later period, which allowed saving 255 billion tenge. After negotiations with creditors the company’s total debt fell by US$ 7 billion.
Nursultan Nazarbayev stressed the importance of the privatization programme and set the task to ensure openness and transparency of the process. He noted despite the global economic instability the holding company should continue the implementation of social projects and job creation.
Umirzak Shukeyev said there has been an increase in major investment projects in the region, including the construction of petrochemical manufacturing enterprises in Atyrau region, industrial complexes for the production of caustic soda and glyphosate in Zhambyl region, as well as the construction of North-East electric power lines.
At the end of the meeting Nursultan Nazarbayev set a number of specific tasks.
