Askar Mamin informed Nursultan Nazarbayev on the company’s current activity, measures to increase the efficiency of its subsidiaries, as well as the progress made in the implementation of major projects and plans for the future.
The President drew attention to the importance of the “Nurly zhol” new economic policy, which envisions a range of large-scale activities.
“It is necessary to constantly monitor the construction and reconstruction of roads that will spread out from Astana. These activities will have a positive multiplier effect, providing manufacturers with the supply orders for equipment and construction materials. In difficult economic times, the programme is destined to become a driving force of development. The People’s Republic of China will render support as well, as our country is involved in the Silk Road Economic Belt,” he added.
The Head of State noted that the creation of international financial centre in Astana will require the development of transport and logistics sector.
“It is necessary to connect the capital with such leading financial centers like Dubai, Frankfurt, and Hong Kong. The civil aviation sector should prepare for this, and learn new routes. At the same time we must create new airlines to expand domestic flights,” he said.
Askar Mamin, in turn, noted that in line with the “Nurly zhol” programme the large-scale construction work is carried out, including the construction of new railways, highways, reconstruction of infrastructure facilities, ports and airports. He said a number of major projects are identified in the Infrastructural Development Plan. In order to develop the transport system in the western region of Kazakhstan, three new cargo terminals have been built, allowing to expand the Aktau seaport. The Borzhakty - Ersai railway line is under construction as well.
Askar Mamin stressed all necessary efforts are being made to turn Kazakhstan into the transport and logistics hub of Eurasia. To this end, the construction of infrastructure facilities is underway both in Kazakhstan and abroad. It is expected that the volume of cargo traffic on the route China-Kazakhstan-Europe will increase by 15 times. In addition, it is planned that the traffic of transit transport will be organised to India.
Following the meeting, the Head of State charged Askar Mamin with a range of specific tasks.
