In her welcome speech, Gulshara Abdykalikova stressed Nursultan Nazarbayev’s words, said at the presentation of the first 18 textbooks in the framework of New Humanitarian Knowledge. 100 New Kazakh Textbooks, ‘New textbooks are an exclusive humanitarian library. It will be accessible to all people in three formats: in the form of ordinary paper books, in electronic online versions and in the format of a video library of open lectures from the best lecturers’.
The State Secretary has noted that a significant cultural event takes place in the year of the 20th anniversary of Kazakhstan’s capital city. Today Astana is not only the national symbol, but also one of the recognized centres of Eurasia.
- In the age of globalization and digital technologies, a book, as before, remains the main source of new knowledge. It is a great instrument of knowing all and everything, the Secretary of State said.
During the years of Kazakhstan’s Independence almost 81 thousand titles of books with a total circulation of about 400 million copies have been published. Only in 2010, more than KZT 10 billion were allocated for book publishing. At present, 380 companies represent the publishing industry.
Representatives of 155 companies and organizations from 18 countries participate in the exhibition this year. Among them are such famous publishing houses as the Russian Science, Kurtiak and Ley Artistic Publishing House from Poland and others. Also, about 120 cultural and business events will be held.
During the visit of the Eurasian Book Fair-2018, Gulshara Abdykalikova got acquainted with the book expositions presented and wished all the participants to expand their creative and business contacts and further achievements in the chosen field.
