At the Congress topical issues of gerontology and geriatrics have been discussed: fundamental, clinical, medical and social problems, active longevity and quality of life, features of restorative therapy and rehabilitation of people, etc.
In her welcoming speech, the Secretary of State has noted that, according to the UN forecasts, by 2025, the number of elderly people worldwide will be 1 billion 100 million people. In Kazakhstan for the period from 2012 to 2016, the share of the population over 60 years has increased from less than 7% to almost 12%. The average life expectancy exceeded 72 years.
Gulshara Abdykalikova stressed that Nursultan Nazarbayev called this achieved level of life expectancy our main achievement.
II Eurasian Congress of Gerontologists is called upon to generalize the accumulated experience of work among gerontological societies entering the Eurasian space.
