In his address, the Head of State noted the unique character of Astana Club as a regional platform for discussing in the broad expert format pressing matters of the Eurasian continent’s future. Nursultan Nazarbayev pointed to the possibility of effectively searching for answers to the most pressing problems of our time as part of the activities of Astana Club.
- We are trying to bring to the world something that it has so recently lacked so much - unification, cohesion and tolerance for solving global problems, the President said.
Nursultan Nazarbayev pointed to the deepening of geopolitical and ideological faults in the world, contributing to the development of a breeding ground for international terrorism and extremism.
-The construction of a new architecture for global development takes place in the context of a deepening geopolitical, geo-economic and geo-ideological fault along the East-West line. Political repression, poverty, low level of education and health are a breeding ground for international terrorism and extremism, the Head of State said.
In addition, Nursultan Nazarbayev noted the existence of a number of problems in the existing system of regional and international security. These are sanctions wars, which threaten the fragmentation of the world economic and technological space.
The President of Kazakhstan has also focused on the growth of militaristic sentiments, the development of the arms race, the resurgence of the threat of using nuclear weapons, which contribute to global tension strengthening. At the same time, the spread of international terrorism and extremism is of catastrophic scale.
- Since the beginning of the third millennium, the number of terrorist attacks, as well as the number of deaths, has increased tenfold, and terrorist attacks have occurred in 104 countries, more than half of the world. By geography and scale, we are, conditionally, in the state of the third world war - a war against terror, Nursultan Nazarbayev said.
In addition, the Head of State drew attention to the problem of uncontrolled global migration, noting that over the previous 25 years, the number of international migrants in the world has doubled and now exceeds 250 million people. Particularly relevant in the context of global population growth are the issues of limited food resources.
The President of Kazakhstan stressed that to solve these problems Eurasia is able to offer a unifying agenda in the field of security, economic growth and dialogue.
Nursultan Nazarbayev noted that the implementation of the One-Belt, One Way, the Eurasian Economic Union, the economic dimension of the SCO, the Nurly Zhol program and other projects makes it possible to create a fundamentally new geo-economic configuration of the Eurasian continent.
In conclusion, the Head of State expressed his confidence that the discussion will contribute to the development of further specific decisions for sustainable global development.
At the end of the meeting, the President of Kazakhstan awarded Konstantin Ernst, the First Channel Director General, with Dostyk Order, Degree 2, for his significant contribution to the strengthening of friendship and cooperation, as well as the development of cultural ties between Kazakhstan and Russia.
