At the meeting the Head of State introduced the region’s new akim Erlan Koshanov, whose candidature had been approved by the regional Maslikhat deputies.
Nursultan Nazarbayev, speaking to the audience, noted the economic and social indicators of the country's development in general and Karaganda region in particular.
- The region's economy has grown 23-fold and 72 industrialization facilities have been put into operation since independence. 1.7 trillion tenge of investment have been invested in the region over the past five years. The problem of emergency schools has been eliminated and the issue of three-shift schooling is being solved. More than 4,000 people were employed within the Road Map, the Head of State said.
Nursultan Nazarbayev put the increased focus on the process of political reforms in the country, underscoring the importance of maintaining the presidential hierarchy and increasing the responsibility of all branches of government.
The President of Kazakhstan has also urged the region residents to actively participate in the country’s economic modernization of the country, noting the need to solve a number of urgent problems.
- It is necessary to create an ideal climate for attracting investments. The World Bank ranks Kazakhstan as the 35th in terms of ease of doing business. This is a good indicator, but we need to continue working in the country’s regions, first of all. We will create a special regional rating for ease of doing business and establish a special annual award, which shall be awarded on the Day of Industrialization, Nursultan Nazarbayev said.
At the same time, the Head of State pointed up the measures on expanding the borders of entrepreneurship, developing public-private partnerships, subsidizing agriculture, implementing "Nurly Zher" Program, increasing Kazakhstan's content in manufactured products, and innovating the industrial sector development by attracting research Institutions.
- We must continue industrialization with a focus on achievement-oriented export enterprises. We should fit in the global chain of production and marketing of goods and services. This goal’s achievement is possible by attracting transnational companies, the President of Kazakhstan noted.
Nursultan Nazarbayev entrusted the country’s akims and the leadership of development institutions with the task of intensifying work with investors on the further development of domestic enterprises.
The new akim of Karaganda region has sworn the oath to the people and the President of Kazakhstan at the end of the meeting.
