The event was attended by government representatives from more than 100 countries around the world, Nobel laureates, prominent figures of science, culture and art and representatives of the expert community.
The President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev as well as representatives of the UN, UNESCO and ISESCO spoke at the opening ceremony.
In her speech at the Forum’s plenary session G.Abdykalikova noted that the V Baku International Humanitarian Forum is a platform of world scale, which gives the insight into whereto the society advances. There is a search for answers to the global challenges of the XXI c.
G.Abdykalikova emphasized that the main concern of modern times is lack of trust and understanding between nations. She drew attention of the Forum’s participants to the Manifesto of the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev ‘Peace. XXI c.’, supporting the key principles for global cataclysm prevention.
Within the scope of the Baku forum the Kazakh Secretary of State G.Abdykalikova met with the Chairman of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan O. Asadov, during which the high dynamics of the Kazakh-Azerbaijani relations was emphasized. G.Abdykalikova underscored that the important event in bilateral relations this year will be the official visit of Kazakhstan’s President Nursultan Nazarbayev to Azerbaijan. The Secretary of State expressed sincere gratitude to the Azerbaijani side for its continued support of Kazakhstan's initiatives, as well as for active participation in preparations for holding the EXPO-2017 international exhibition in Astana.
The same day the Secretary of State of Kazakhstan G.Abdykalikova met with the First Lady of Azerbaijan, President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva. In the course of the meeting the Secretary of State G.Abdykalikova stressed that the relations between our countries are developing in accordance with the Agreement on strategic partnership and allied relations endorsed on the results of the official visit of the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev to Baku in May 2005.
During the visit in Baku the Secretary of State G.Abdykalikova is also to participate in the meeting dedicated to the 25th anniversary of Kazakhstan’s Independence with the involvement of the core group from Kazakhstan-Azerbaijan friendship society, the business community and compatriots. In addition, in the margins of the Forum G.Abdykalikova will hold a series of meetings with officials and representatives of Azerbaijan’s business people.
Generally, inside the Forum there will be round tables on issues of multiculturalism, preservation of human capital amid mass displacement of people, sustainable development and others.
