Nursultan Nazarbayev congratulated the Chinese people on the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the war against militarist Japan.
- It is difficult to overestimate the contribution of China to victory in World War II. Resistance and dedication shown by the Chinese people are the greatest examples of heroism and courage, valor and patriotism. In Kazakhstan, in order to fight in the bloodiest war of the twentieth century it more than 25% of the population was mobilized. Many of them never returned home from the battlefields. Among them there are those who rest in Chinese soil, - he said.
The President of Kazakhstan also emphasized that he intentionally chose the Central Party School of the CCP as the venue for his lecture.
- Its students will in future conduct the Communist Party’s course. You are the avant-garde on the way to implementation of the "Chinese dream" and the revival of the nation. After all, we consider a unique phenomenon of the XXI century, called the "rise of China" as an opportunity for the development of the region, - said Nursultan Nazarbayev.
He also drew attention to the qualitative growth in relations between the two states.
- In a short historical period the volume of trade between Kazakhstan and China grew from 337 million to 22 billion dollars. Only in the last two years bilateral contracts totaling more than $ 70 billion were signed. In various areas we have entered into more than 250 intergovernmental and interdepartmental agreements, - said the President of Kazakhstan.
The Head of State dwelled on the initiative "One belt, one way," noting among its first steps the operation of a logistics terminal in the port of Lianyungang, construction of the highway "Western China - Western Europe", the operation of the International Center "Khorgos" and others.
- Annually about 6 million railroad containers travel between the European Union and the Asia-Pacific region. Today the main part of the stream - about 98% - is transported by sea fleet through foreign ports. However, the transit land route through Kazakhstan is much shorter than the sea route. Now the transportation of goods can be done within two weeks. This strategic advantage is a key condition for the formation of transnational transit and transport alliance between Astana and Beijing - said Nursultan Nazarbayev.
The President of Kazakhstan also noted the complementary nature of the "Nurly Jol" program and the "One belt, one way" initiative.
- Since December 2014 we are working to expand cooperation in industrialization and investment. In particular, 48 investment projects totaling more than $ 30 billion have been selected, and a memorandum between Kazakhstan and China on cooperation in industrialization and investments was signed, - he said.
In addition, Nursultan Nazarbayev noted that today the two countries act together on many issues of international politics and thanked China for its unconditional negative assurances to member-states of the Treaty on the zone free of nuclear weapons in Central Asia.
