During the meeting the sides discussed issues of bilateral cooperation in trade, economic, investment, credit and financial, cultural and humanitarian spheres. Also leaders of the two countries compared notes on major issues of the international agenda.
The President of Kazakhstan thanked the President of China for the warm welcome and noted that for more than 20 years relations between our countries are developing along the path of steady growth.
- Today agreements reached in the course of your official visit to Kazakhstan in May this year promote our relations - said Nursultan Nazarbayev.
The Head of State also congratulated the people of China on the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the War of Resistance Against Japanese militarists and Beijing’s successful bid for hosting the 2022 Winter Olympics.
- Beijing will be the only city in the world that hosted summer and winter Olympic Games - said the President of Kazakhstan.
Welcoming Nursultan Nazarbayev, Xi Jinping pointed out that the strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and China has been continuously strengthening.
- Today, we will sign a Joint Declaration on a new stage of comprehensive strategic partnership. This document will summarize many years of fruitful cooperation and outline cooperation program for the future - said Xi Jinping.
During the talks the Chinese side welcomed the accession of Kazakhstan to the World Trade Organization, noting the importance of this event for the intensification of bilateral relations. The parties also agreed to strengthen cooperation in the area of "green technologies", based on the capacity of the EXPO-2017 exhibition in Astana.
In addition, the heads of states expressed their willingness to strengthen cooperation in the field of nuclear power in connection to the establishment of the Low Enriched Uranium Bank on the territory of Kazakhstan.
The sides discussed prospects for further trade and economic cooperation in terms of volatility of international currency markets.
