President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev attended the summit of the Heads of State of Central Asia and the United States of America as part of his visit to New York. The dialogue agenda includes working together to further strengthen Central Asia’s sovereignty, resilience and prosperity through C5+1 economic, energy and security partnership.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev spoke after US President Joseph Biden at the summit, which was also attended by Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The prospects for further development of strategic partnership, political dialogue, trade, economic, investment and humanitarian cooperation, as well as issues of preserving peace and stability in Eurasia were thoroughly discussed during the meeting.
Special emphasis was placed on economic cooperation and opportunities for US companies in areas such as critical minerals development, renewable energy, manufacturing and others.
The discussion also touched on prospects for enhanced co-operation in addressing security challenges, including cyber security, terrorism, violent extremism, illegal migration and drug trafficking.
Kazakhstan is counting on US support to establish a UN Regional Centre on Sustainable Development Goals for Central Asia and Afghanistan in Almaty.
