A series of bilateral meetings of Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on the sidelines of the CICA summit continued with talks with the Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif. The sides discussed the prospects of Kazakh-Pakistani cooperation in trade, economic and investment spheres.
The Head of State expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister of Pakistan for visiting Astana to participate in the CICA summit and for supporting Kazakhstan's initiatives aimed at further institutional development of the forum.
The President described Pakistan as one of Kazakhstan's key partners in South Asia. He expressed satisfaction with the dynamics of the development of trade and economic relations between the two countries.
The prospects for establishing cooperation in transport, transit and logistics, and energy sectors were noted. The importance of the earliest possible resumption of direct flights between the countries and activation of the work of the Intergovernmental Commission for Trade, Economic, Cultural, Humanitarian and Scientific and Technical Cooperation was emphasized.
In turn, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif conveyed to Kassym-Jomart Tokayev words of greetings from Pakistan’s President Arif Alvi and highlighted that the relations between the countries are developing progressively.
