A ceremonial welcome for the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Khaled bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who arrived in Kazakhstan on an official visit, took place at the Akorda residence.
Greeting the distinguished guest, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized that the visit holds great significance in providing fresh momentum to Kazakh-Emirati relations.
The President noted that the United Arab Emirates is one of Kazakhstan’s key partners, sharing common goals and aspirations. In 2023, the governments of both nations signed a Joint Declaration on the Implementation of Strategic Investment Projects.
It was highlighted that the UAE ranks among the top ten foreign investors in Kazakhstan’s economy. In 2024, direct investment inflows from the UAE more than doubled, reaching record levels.
President Tokayev welcomed the signing of over 20 commercial agreements during the visit, with a total value equivalent to $5 billion. Their implementation will provide a strong impetus to strategic cooperation and further strengthen mutually beneficial bilateral ties.
In response, the Crown Prince expressed gratitude for the warm hospitality and shared that he feels a special connection visiting Kazakhstan again – a country he deeply admires for its natural beauty and the warmth of its people.
He underscored that the relationship between Kazakhstan and the UAE is built on trust, mutual support, and a shared commitment to progress. These ties have long transcended trade and investment, encompassing a wide range of areas, from energy and transportation to digital infrastructure and education. The Crown Prince noted that the agreements signed today reflect a shared vision for the priorities of future collaboration.
Following the conclusion of talks between President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Khaled bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, a ceremony was held to exchange signed bilateral documents:
1. Memorandum of Cooperation in the Field of Road Transport between the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure of the United Arab Emirates;
2. Memorandum of Cooperation between the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Justice of the United Arab Emirates;
3. Agreement on Cooperation for the Development of Round-the-Clock Power Supply Projects up to 500 MW and Energy Storage Systems up to 2,000 MW in the Republic of Kazakhstan between JSC Samruk-Kazyna Sovereign Wealth Fund and Masdar;
4. Agreement on Strategic Cooperation in the Digital Transformation of Kazakhstan’s Oil and Gas Industry between JSC Samruk-Kazyna Sovereign Wealth Fund and AIQ;
5. Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation between JSC Samruk-Kazyna Sovereign Wealth Fund and Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank;
6. Agreement on the Establishment of a Supercomputer Cluster in the Republic of Kazakhstan between the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovations, and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Presight;
7. Protocol between JSC National Company KazMunayGas and Abu Dhabi Ports Group on Cooperation to Expand the Commercial Fleet;
8. Agreement on Strategic Cooperation in the Digitalization of the Oil and Gas Industry between JSC National Company QazaqGaz and AIQ;
9. Memorandum of Understanding between the Akimat of Turkestan Region and the Abu Dhabi Development Fund for the Financing and Construction of the Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan Maternity Hospital in Turkestan;
10. Investment Agreement for the Development of Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport in Astana and its Surrounding Area between the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Terminals Astana Airport Limited.
Additionally, during the ceremony, the ratification of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the United Arab Emirates on the Implementation of a Wind Power Plant Project was announced.
