On May 7, a military parade marking the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory was held in Astana on Defender of the Fatherland Day. The event was attended by To Lam, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, who was in Kazakhstan on a state visit.

In his speech, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized that the Great Victory remains an integral part of the nation’s history and a vital lesson for the world.

– We honor the heroic deeds of our ancestors who courageously defended their homeland and pay tribute to the memory of those who fell in battle for the Motherland. We also express our respect for the soldiers who, in peacetime, safeguard the country’s tranquility, – the Kazakh President stated.

The parade featured over 4,000 service members from all branches of the Armed Forces and other military units. More than 200 pieces of weaponry and military equipment were showcased, along with 66 helicopters and aircraft from the military aviation fleet.

Over 5,000 guests gathered at the square, including war veterans, homefront workers, representatives of the diplomatic corps and international organizations, parliamentarians, public figures, delegates from all regions of the country, and members of military-patriotic clubs.
