The Secretary of State congratulated the Ambassador of the Italian Republic on his new appointment and wished success in his diplomatic mission in Kazakhstan.
Gulshara Abdykalikova noted positive dynamics in the development of Kazakh-Italian relations, which have reached the level of strategic partnership after the signing of interstate Agreement on strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and Italy during the official visit of Nursultan Nazarbayev to Italy in 2009.
The parties discussed current state and future prospects of cooperation, including participation of Italian companies in the second five-year industrialization plan and infrastructure development plan envisioned in the “Nurly Zhol” new economic policy.
Italy is the third largest trade partner of Kazakhstan in the world and one of the largest investors in the country’s economy. Italy’s share in the overall turnover of Kazakhstan’s foreign trade with the European Union amounts to 13%. The total volume of Italian investment in Kazakhstan accounts for 6.5 billion dollars.
