14 december 2020 year

The ceremony of presenting credentials to President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev by newly appointed ambassadors extraordinary and plenipotentiary of a number of states held at the Akorda Presidential Palace.

The credentials were presented by Ambassador of the French Republic Didier Canesse, Ambassador of Ukraine Petro Vrublevsky, UN Resident Coordinator for Kazakhstan Michaela Friberg-Storey, Ambassador of the Republic of North Macedonia Sali Limani, and Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Sajjad Ahmed Seehar.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev congratulated the ambassadors on the official start of their diplomatic mission in Kazakhstan and wished them success in further strengthening bilateral relations with our country.

Addressing foreign ambassadors, President Tokayev noted that today’s ceremony takes place at a time of unprecedented challenges for the entire global community. As far as he is concerned, solidarity and effective international cooperation are the key to making our communities more resilient in the face of any threats. In this regard, the Head of State stressed that Kazakhstan views partnership with their countries and the UN system as an essential part of our foreign policy.

As the President noted, Kazakhstan attaches a special importance to the strategic partnership with the French Republic, our leading partner in the European Union and the 5th largest investor.

He told that Kazakhstan enjoys fruitful cooperation with France in such fields as mining, oil and gas, transport engineering, production of construction materials, chemical and food industries.

Besides, President Tokayev noted that there is a huge untapped potential for an even active mutually beneficial interaction in agriculture, renewables and digital technologies, as well as culture, education and tourism.

“The Kazakh side is ready to propose tailor-made toolkits for French entrepreneurs to invest into lucrative projects in Kazakhstan,” he underscored.

While addressing to Ukrainian Ambassador Petro Vrublevsky, the President told that further strengthening bonds of friendship between our nations and expanding multifaceted cooperation with Ukraine is extremely important for Kazakhstan.

“Our bilateral relations are based on deep historical ties, and the Ukrainian diaspora of Kazakhstan serves as a «living bridge» between our nations making our ties even stronger. Today our businesses collaborate across various sectors, including machinery, agriculture, space and atomic energy, to contribute to the economic pillar of bilateral relations. I am confident that crucial transformational reforms, underway in both countries, will be conducive to further boosting political, trade and investment, cultural and people-to-people ties,” the Head of State noted.

Speaking to UN Resident Coordinator for Kazakhstan Michaela Friberg-Storey, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev reassured that Kazakhstan remains committed to inclusive multilateralism based on the UN Charter.

“Our partnership with and within the UN system has yielded significant results. Over the last three decades, Kazakhstan has participated in every major UN body – including the Security Council – in pursuit of a range of priorities. To better coordinate the sustainable development agenda in Central Asia and Afghanistan, we intend to institutionalize a UN-led regional SDGs Center in Almaty.” Kazakhstan President said.

As for the Republic of North Macedonia, President Tokayev noted that Kazakhstan considers the country as its important partner in Eastern Europe and the Balkans.

“The two nations have much in common as they boast a diverse population with different ethnicities and religions – an asset that strengthens and enriches our countries. We attach particular importance to expanding our political, trade and economic interaction with your country,” Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted.

Addressing to Sajjad Ahmed Seehar, the Head of State stressed that Pakistan is one of Kazakhstan’s key partners in Asia, with whom we have established an enduring partnership based on meaningful political and economic dialogue.

“We keep bilateral trade growing despite the negative impact of COVID-19. However, we are way below our capabilities largely due to weak transport connectivity between our countries. In this regard, the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade-Economic, Scientific-technical and Cultural Cooperation is expected to open up new horizons for our partnership,” he underscored.

In conclusion, having congratulated the ambassadors on the upcoming Christmas and New Year, Kazakhstan President conveyed his warmest greetings to the leaders of their countries.
