The Head of State has pointed out that today's meeting is taking place on the International Day against Nuclear Tests, and stressed that the initiative to establish this date belongs to Kazakhstan.
- It all started with the fact that on August 29, 1991 the world's largest nuclear test site was closed. After that, the tests in Nevada and other test sites were discontinued. We abandoned the arsenal of nuclear weapons, which allowed us to become one of the leaders of the anti-nuclear movement, the President of Kazakhstan said.
In turn, Lassin Zerbo noted the symbolism of the meeting with Nursultan Nazarbayev on this day and assured that the institution he represents will continue to make every effort to counter nuclear tests and preserve peace on earth.
At the end of the meeting, the Head of State expressed his gratitude to Mr. Zerbo for constant attention and participation in Kazakhstan’s anti-nuclear initiatives.
