During the meeting the sides discussed ways to further strengthen cooperation between the two countries, including in the inter-parliamentary sphere.
Nursultan Nazarbayev stressed the multilateral nature of cooperation between Kazakhstan and Russia, noting the importance of the Treaty on Good-Neighborliness and Alliance in the XXI Century, which greatly contributed to the establishment of the Eurasian Economic Union.
The President also drew attention to the development of EAEU and told about the agreement reached with President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker to hold a joint forum of the Eurasian Economic Union and the European Union in autumn this year.
Valentina Matvienko, in turn, thanked Nursultan Nazarbyev for the warm welcome and expressed her readiness to make every effort to further develop the strategic and friendly relations between the two countries.
During the meeting Nursultan Nazarbayev also awarded Valentina Matvienko with the Dostyk Order of the second degree for her contribution into strengthening friendship and cooperation between Kazakhstan and Russia.
