During the meeting Kairat Kelimbetov reported to the President on the implementation of measures to form the leading financial services centre in the country based on international best practices, established on the President of Kazakhstan’s initiative.
Nursultan Nazarbayev noted that the implementation of “Astana” international financial centre (AIFC) strategy will attract significant financial resources to the country's economy.
- AIFC should become the core of the financial infrastructure, and as a financial hub of Central Asia and the EAEC, he said.
K. Kelimbetov said that the signing last December of the constitutional law on "Astana" International Financial Centre for the first time in the post-Soviet area had provided the opportunity to work on the principle of English law.
The head of the financial center informed the President of Kazakhstan about the high opinion of the international investment community on the idea of creating AIFC.
- Special dynamic is given to the Centre’s activity by the agreements reached in the course of the Head of State’s foreign visits. In particular, the efficiency of meetings with "10 Trillion” club representatives has been pointed out, K. Kelimbetov said.
The President of Kazakhstan emphasized the importance of establishing partnerships with global market leaders in financial services and working towards selection of the AIFC highly professional staff.
Following the meeting the Head of State gave a number of specific instructions.
