Heads of state bodies, national companies, deputies of Kazakhstan’s Parliament, representatives of large foreign enterprises and organizations have taken part in the meeting.
Before the beginning of the event, the President of Kazakhstan visited a special exhibition where he was presented with more than 30 IT projects in various areas.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Bakytzhan Sagintayev, experts in the field of information and communication technologies and innovations spoke with reports.
Considering the data announced during the presentation of "Digital Kazakhstan" State Program, the Head of State noted the importance of mainstreaming digital technology for the country's economic development.
- Over the years of independence, we have managed to enter the list of 50 competitive countries in the world. Now the task is to enter the Top 30, which requires Kazakhstan to innovate and accelerate technological innovation. Therefore, at the beginning of the year, I announced in my Address to the Nation of Kazakhstan about the Third Modernization, the core of which is digitalization, Nursultan Nazarbayev said.
The President of Kazakhstan stressed that digitalization is necessary to increase the competitiveness of enterprises and the country, as well as to improve the quality of life.
The Head of State dwelled on certain areas of digitalization, which require special attention from authorized bodies and enterprises.
- It is a matter of importance to build cooperation between the state and private enterprises and organizations. It is critical to lay the groundwork for large-scale implementation of digital technology by the business community, Nursultan Nazarbayev said.
In addition, the President of Kazakhstan noted the importance of training highly qualified personnel and stressed the need to re-examine the policy in the field of education.
At the same time, the Head of State placed the emphasis on developing centres of excellence based on research institutes, higher educational institutions and within the framework of innovative clusters.
Nursultan Nazarbayev emphasized the key role of the International Techno Park of IT startups in the development and introduction of new technologies.
- The financial sector as the most sensitive to ground-breaking technology has already been using digital solutions. It is necessary that it continues to remain on the cutting edge of this process. Astana International Financial Centre faces the challenge of promoting new financial technology and instruments, the President of Kazakhstan said.
Nursultan Nazarbayev has also instructed to work out the normative legal basis for solving the tasks in hand and fostering research and development activities.
In conclusion, the Head of State noted the need to study global challenges and technological trends of the future.
- Everything we have talked about today is instrumental in the Third Modernization. The Cabinet needs to take them into account in the State Program. It is necessary to create a special commission at the EEC to solve joint problems.
