The President thanked the Special Representative of the United Nations for the support provided for Kazakhstan as part of its chairmanship of the OSCE.
“We hope for further fruitful cooperation. Your Merit for Kazakhstan is awarded by the Order of Dostyk (Friendship). Now you have a hard and demanding job in the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan. We are interested in a situation in the country after withdrawal of the international coalition. Kazakhstan is ready to participate in the process of stabilizing the situation and a peaceful life in Afghanistan. In this regard, we plan to organize a special center hub of the United Nations in Almaty. Its purpose will be to assist the Central Asian countries and other states to provide effective assistance to Afghanistan," Nursultan Nazarbayev said.
In turn, Jan Kubis noted that stabilization of the situation in Afghanistan will further improve the situation in the whole region.
“If there is stability in Afghanistan, the whole region will have the opportunity for the sustainable development. I highly assess the assistance and support provided by Kazakhstanto Afghanistan. Moreover, Kazakhstan is an active participant of the regional cooperation, “ the head of the UN Mission in Afghanistan added.
In addition, the parties discussed a wide range of issues related to humanitarian, trade, investment and infrastructure projects.
