The event was attended by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, the Kyrgyz Republic Almazbek Atambayev, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Ismet Yilmaz, Deputy Prime Minister of Turkmenistan Sapardurdy Toylyev, as well as deputies of the Parliament of Kazakhstan, representatives of creative intelligentsia, sports, culture and arts.
In his address to the participants of the meeting, the President said that the celebration of 550th anniversary of the Kazakh Khanate is a tribute to the glorious past of our people and a reminder of the history lessons for today's generations. Nursultan Nazarbayev emphasized that the generation of independent Kazakhstan has raised the prestige of the country to unprecedented heights and by that implemented centuries-old dream of their ancestors.
The Head of State stressed that there are many examples when states use a special informal name.
- Our sacred land at ancient times was called the Great Steppe, and we are the children of the Great Steppe, - said the President of Kazakhstan.
Nursultan Nazarbayev stressed that the popular name of our homeland reflects its past, present, and future.
