During the visit Nursultan Nazarbayev got acquainted with the activities of the advocacy group, logistics group and the group of informational and analytical work.
While at the office, the President held a videoconference meeting with leaders and members of the regional offices during which their heads reported on the readiness for the election campaign.
Nursultan Nazarbayev emphasized that the current electoral period is distinctive in that the elections will be held both in the Majilis of Parliament and maslikhats of all levels.
The election campaign starts tomorrow. After the 17th Congress of the Nur Otan party a serious work has been done across the country. The party has opened its national and regional offices, prepared all the necessary materials, while the candidates are ready for the campaign. The party list includes experts of different professions who have experience in various fields of economy, culture and public life, which means that they are able to deal with the needs of the population. I am sure that our party is set to open and fair electoral campaign for the votes of Kazakhstanis. It is necessary to conduct an ongoing dialogue and respond to the needs of our citizens. It is the most important thing in our work,” he said.
The Head of State noted that the elections are the moment of truth for any political party.
The election results are determined by the level of support of not only the party itself but also its goals and programmes. The electoral campaign gives a new chance to reveal the institutional and human capacity, as well as political and practical opportunities. The campaign helps to strengthen and renew the party membership, replenish it with new activists and supporters, reveal talented politicians who will rule the country in the future. Every election is a new stage in the party building process,” he said.
The President also touched upon key aspects of the upcoming campaign.
Nursultan Nazarbayev emphasized that the main task of the Party is to effectively implement the National Plan, achieve major goals of the Kazakhstan-2050 Strategy, as well as to implement the Nurly Zhol new economic policy plan.
At the end of the day all these efforts provide for the decent living conditions for each of our citizen. Everything is done to ensure that Kazakhstan has a high employment level and skilled workers,” he said.
The Head of State noted that the electoral offices should focus on the needs and aspirations of ordinary people.
During the electoral period it is important to intensify the work with general public. Candidates should regularly meet with citizens, providing quick and efficient response to all the requests of people and help them in solving specific problems,” he maintained.
The President emphasized that against the background of deteriorating global economy Kazakhstan pursues a balanced foreign policy, promotes global dialogue, and calls for the restoration of trust between peoples.
Our foreign policy is based on the principle of mutually beneficial cooperation with all countries interested in collaboration with Kazakhstan. Our borders will always remain the lines of friendship and good neighborliness, while the entire Central Asian region – the cradle of safety and stability. We support the idea of turning Eurasia in a continent of trust, cooperation, closer economic ties and common security,” he said.
In his report, the head of the Nur Otan party’s election office Askar Myrzakhmetov said the party has established a national campaign office, as well as 16 regional and 208 district headquarters in the regions, Astana and Almaty cities.
Among the keynote speakers of the meeting were rector of the Kazakh National University of Arts Aiman Mussakhodzhayeva, deputy chairman of the Atameken National Chamber of Entrepreneurs Nurzhan Altaev, and director of JSC Commercial Television Channel Artur Platonov.
