Kassym-Jomart Tokayev inspected the checkpoint No.6 located near the village of Zhibek Zholy, which was established in connection with the introduction of a state of emergency in the country and quarantine in the capital due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In general, the Head of State positively assessed the readiness of the capital’s administration, ministries of health, internal affairs, as well as military personnel of the Defense Ministry and the National Guard to ensure the quarantine regime.
The President heard the information from the Mayor of Nur-Sultan, ministers of health, internal affairs, and defense on measures taken to tackle coronavirus infection.
Noting the hard work of the country’s medical workers in the fight against the pandemic, President Tokayev expressed gratitude to them and pointed out the importance of timely payment of salaries and bonuses in full.
Addressing Prime Minister Askar Mamin, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev focused on the need to develop new approaches to managing the economy in an extremely unfavorable global environment.
“We must be prepared for any, and not the most favorable, even the worst development options, including the model for the economic mobilization. We must be ready for everything,” the President of Kazakhstan stressed.
In conclusion, the Head of State wished success to the servicemen of the Defense Ministry, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and employees of other agencies, as well as explained the reasons for the introduction of quarantine.
“It is impossible without introducing quarantine in the current situation. You observe what is happening in the world. We need decisive actions and unity. And, of course, we have to apply such measures as quarantine. I believe that our citizens will understand these measures. All this is being implemented for the health of our citizens,” President Tokayev concluded.
