During the visit, Nursultan Nazarbayev got acquainted with the pace of implementation of regional development programme in the field of education.
The President also talked with faculty members and students of the college.
Nursultan Nazarbayev noted the importance of creating an alternative economy in the country following the lead of developed countries of Europe and Asia that prosper due to their technologies and manufacturing sectors.
“Over the first five years of industrialisation nearly 770 new enterprises have been built in Kazakhstan. This year alone, 75 facilities have been put into operation. In the future, special attention will be paid to the development of innovation technologies. On the basis of this college a strong technical cluster is being formed. Today the country needs chemical engineers and highly qualified personnel that would be able to work both at extractive and processing companies. After the students complete their studies, they will be able to work throughout Kazakhstan,” he said.
The college offers educational programmes in twelve fields, providing retraining and advanced training of personnel for the newly opening chemical enterprises. The educational institution that trains up to 600 students is equipped with modern facilities, including computer classes, multimedia and language laboratories, a library with a computer room and a 200-bed dormitory.
