At the request of the Kyrgyz side, the Head of State held a meeting with Sooronbay Jeenbekov, during which the President of Kazakhstan congratulated the President of Kyrgyzstan on winning the election.
- It is necessary to restore kindred and brotherly relations between the two countries. It is in the interests of our nations, Nursultan Nazarbayev said.
The President of Kazakhstan noted that in the near future working groups of the governments of the two countries would work and sign the Road Map. After the completion of this work, according to the appeal of the Kyrgyz side, existing issues will be resolved at the Kazakh-Kyrgyz border.
- We will carry out joint control of the border with participation of the Kazakh and Kyrgyz sides, as well as the EEU representatives. It is expedient to determine the same procedure for the Kyrgyz-Chinese border, Nursultan Nazarbayev said.
In addition, the Head of State invited the President of the Kyrgyz Republic to Kazakhstan on an official visit.
In turn, Sooranbay Jeenbekov thanked Nursultan Nazarbayev for his congratulations and invitation to visit Kazakhstan on an official visit.
- We have taken into consideration the issues of cooperation between our countries and have come to the common opinion on a number of matters. I have requested, in spite of existing problems, to open the border at my personal responsibility, the President of Kyrgyzstan said.
At the end of the meeting, the Head of State underscored the good-neighbourly type of relationship between the two countries, expressing the desire to resolve all emerging issues in a constructive manner.
