On the sidelines of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with Prime Minister of Singapore Lee Hsien Loong.
During the meeting, the Head of State noted the friendly nature of relations between the two countries.
“Your country is highly respected in Kazakhstan. We still remember that your father, the founder of Singapore, Mr Lee Kuan Yew visited Kazakhstan in 1991, and he had a close relationship with the First President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev. I think we have some background for having very close relationship with your country,” Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said.
The Prime Minister of Singapore reaffirmed his intention to continue strengthening relations between the two states.
“We will be happy to further develop this cooperation. I look forward to working with you as President,” Lee Hsien Loong said.
The sides noted the expansion of bilateral trade, economic and investment ties, as well as the growing cooperation within the Astana International Financial Centre.
Following the meeting Kassym-Jomart Tokayev invited Lee Hsien Loong to visit Kazakhstan.
“We look forward to seeing you in Kazakhstan at any time convenient for you. It will be good chance to talk about some particular issues of having closer cooperation between both countries,” the President stressed.
