During the meeting the parties discussed various aspects of the Kazakh-Japanese cooperation, and exchanged views on key matters of the international agenda.
The Head of State has noted that Kazakhstan and Japan have grown to a high level of partnership, and the negotiations in the framework of the visit are directed at its further expansion.
- Japan and Kazakhstan dominate the anti-nuclear movement; our countries have experienced the harm of nuclear weapons. I am confident that we will collaboratively keep that work going. My forthcoming visit to Hiroshima is aimed at showing solidarity with the Japanese people; we are working together on building the world without nuclear weapons in XXI c., Nursultan Nazarbayev said.
The President of Kazakhstan turned attention to the close cooperation of our countries in the international arena.
- I would like to bring into focus the commitment of Japanese diplomacy in every direction, including in Central Asia. Japan and Kazakhstan follow similar views on all international affairs, he said.
Fumio Kishida, in turn, laid emphasis on the fruitfulness of the talks between President Nursultan Nazarbayev and the Prime Minister of Japan.
- We feel sincere respect for your leadership since Kazakhstan has gained independence. Election of Kazakhstan as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council is the indicator of your successful leadership, Japan's Foreign Minister said.
