The message notes that the results of the vote show a high confidence of the members of the organization to António Guterres.
"Vote of confidence in you is of particular significance in the context of serious challenges facing us today. The main points of Kazakhstan's activity as a non-permanent UN Security Council member for 2017-2018 are combating terrorism and extremism, and maintenance of security in Central Asia and Afghanistan, plus non-proliferation of nuclear arms. I am hopeful of the fruitful cooperation in this direction", the statement says.
In conclusion, the President of Kazakhstan wished António Guterres success in the post of responsibility and expressed hope for further development of our country’s successful cooperation with the UN.
