On the sidelines of the 77th session of the General Assembly, the Head of State held a meeting with President of the International Committee of the Red Cross Peter Maurer.
The interlocutors discussed prospects for strengthening cooperation between Kazakhstan and the ICRC, and also exchanged views on topical issues on the international and regional agenda, including the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev expressed gratitude to Peter Maurer, who is leaving his post, for his contribution to strengthening cooperation with our country and the fruitful work he has done over the past ten years at the helm of the organization.
Peter Maurer thanked the President of Kazakhstan for the high assessment of his activities. The head of the ICRC noted the importance of the large-scale reforms implemented under the leadership of Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in the country and his personal contribution to the development of cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross.
