Meeting of Kazakhstan’s Secretary of State Gulshara Abdykalikova with the Regional Director of the UN Population Fund for Eastern Europe and Central Asia Alanna Armitage

The sides discussed a number of topical issues of cooperation between Kazakhstan and the United Nations Foundation in the gender policy implementation, strengthening the role of women in promoting peace and security in the region.

During the meeting Gulshara Abdykalikova noted effective cooperation in matters of family planning, reproductive health and prevention of domestic violence.

G.Abdykalikova made it clear that Kazakhstan is committed to the full implementation of Sustainable Development Goals before 2030 at the national and global levels.

To date, three country programs have already been successfully actualized, and the fourth cycle program for 2016-2020 has started. Sub-regional office in Almaty has been institutionalized, which is indicative of Kazakhstan’s central role in the region. UNFPA has instrumented a range of maternal mortality mitigation measures, introduction of modern international technologies to ensure safe motherhood and perinatal care regionalization.

"Kazakhstan's cooperation with the UN remains to be a principal foreign policy priority. Our country is determined to deepen cooperation with the organization as a non-permanent member of the Security Council ", the Minister of Labor said.

At the end of the meeting the Secretary of State wished the Regional Director of the UN Population Fund for Eastern Europe and Central Asia Allana Armitage success in her new position and expressed hope for the continuation of effective work with the UNFPA.
