Meeting of Kazakhstan’s State Secretary Gulshara Abdykalikova with Mohammed Al Jaber, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Arab Emirates to Kazakhstan

During the meeting, the sides discussed the current state of cooperation between Kazakhstan and the Emirates, as well as prospects for political, economic, cultural and humanitarian collaboration.

- Owing to close and confidential relations between Kazakhstan’s President Nursultan Nazarbayev and the Head of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Khalifa Al Nahyan, close relations have been established between our countries, the Secretary of State said.

G. Abdykalikova notes that Kazakhstan has started implementing the Address of the Head of the State "New Development Opportunities under the Fourth Industrial Revolution", which envisages the introduction of Industry 4.0. elements and joining the thirty most developed countries of the world.

- Kazakhstan is a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council. Most recently, in his speech at the Security Council meeting, the President Nursultan Nazarbayev emphasized the importance of political trust and systemic dialogue in international life, the State Secretary said.

Gulshara Abdykalikova noted the importance of continuing active interaction between the Astana International Financial Centre and the Emirates’ financial centres.

At the end of the meeting, the Secretary of State thanked Muhammad Al Jaber for the active participation of the United Arab Emirates in the international specialized exhibition ASTANA EXPO 2017 and expressed her confidence that the next exhibition of EXPO 2020 in Dubai would be held at the highest level.

- Kazakhstan is interested in establishing a full-fledged strategic partnership with the UAE and will take an active part in EXPO 2020, G. Abdykalikova said.

The trade turnover between Kazakhstan and the UAE for the period from January to November 2017 amounted to $590.3 million. From 2005 to 2017 gross inflow of direct foreign investments from the Emirates to Kazakhstan amounted to about $2 billion.

In Kazakhstan there are 233 joint ventures with the participation of the Emirates’ capital. The largest bilateral investment project is the construction of Abu Dhabi Plaza multifunctional complex worth $1.2 billion.
