The meeting has been attended by the Council’s Deputy Chairman, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin, Minister of Finance Alikhan Smailov, Minister of National Economy Ruslan Dalenov, the National Bank Chairman Yerbolat Dossayev, AIFC Managing Director Kairat Kelimbetov, and the Council members. They are President of the EBRD Suma Chakrabarti, Chairman of JP Morgan Chase International Jacob Frenkel, President and Chairman of Russia’s Sberbank German Gref, President of the Islamic Development Bank Group Bandar Hajjar, Co-Founder and leader of Yandex Arkady Volozh, and Julie Monaco, the Global Head of Citi’s Public Sector Group.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev welcomed the new members of the Council and noted that the understructure was laid for AIFC’s future development thanks to the efforts and support of foreign partners.
- Over the year since the official opening, the Centre has risen by 37 positions in the prestigious global index of financial centres taking 51st place. For the Centre’s successful work all conditions have been created and the infrastructure has been adjusted. Now we need practical results, said the Head of State.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized that the city of Nur-Sultan is becoming a financial centre recognized worldwide.
- Leading architects have created a unique look of the capital city. The time has come for the world's leading financiers to create a successful financial centre here. In addition to the financial sector evolution, the Centre should attract investment in the economy. Based on AIFC, the main transactions for financing promising projects should be structured. The IPO of such national companies as Kazakhtelecom, KazMunayGaz, KTZh, and Air Astana will be held here, the President of Kazakhstan noted.
The meeting has also heard the official presentation of the AIFC annual report.
